Validated by BINDT and recognised by PCN
An individual certified to Ultrasonic TOFD Level 2 has demonstrated competence to perform NDT according to NDT procedures. Within the scope of the competence defined on the certificate, Level 2 personnel may be authorized by the employer to:
- Select the Ultrasonic TOFD Technique: Choose the appropriate TOFD technique for the test method to be used.
- Define Limitations: Determine the limitations of the application of the testing method.
- Translate Codes and Standards: Convert Ultrasonic TOFD codes, standards, specifications, and procedures into TOFD instructions that are adapted to actual working conditions.
- Set Up and Verify Equipment: Configure and verify the settings of Ultrasonic TOFD equipment.
- Perform and Supervise Tests: Conduct and oversee Ultrasonic TOFD tests.
- Interpret and Evaluate Results: Analyze and evaluate results in accordance with applicable standards, codes, specifications, or procedures.
- Prepare Written Instructions: Draft written instructions for Ultrasonic TOFD testing.
- Carry Out and Supervise Tasks: Execute and supervise all tasks at or below the Level 2 qualification.
- Provide Guidance: Offer guidance for personnel at or below Level 2.
- Report Test Results: Document and report the results of Ultrasonic TOFD tests.
PCN Certification is awarded once the student has demonstrated the required experience and training hours and has successfully completed the PCN examination:
Ultrasonic Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD)
Level 2:
- Training Hours: 40 hours
- Experience: 9 months
Direct Access to PCN Level 2: Direct access to PCN Level 2 can be achieved by combining the experience and training hours of both Level 1 and Level 2:
- Training Hours: 80 hours
- Experience: 12 months
If you are looking to quickly gain the experience required for your certification, accelerated learning might be for you. Through this method, you can obtain up to 50% of the required experience.
- Accelerated Learning:
- 192 hours of training is equivalent to 960 hours of work experience.
- This accounts for 50% of the 1920 hours of required experience needed for certification.
