Special Note
PDTC (ICorr) has agreed to include an experience assessment in all ICorr certifications for individuals involved in painting and coating inspection. To qualify for certification, candidates must have at least held ICorr Painting Inspector Level 1 or Coating Inspector Level 1 for a minimum of two years. Transitioning from other certification schemes is possible here.
For those without a suitable qualification, dispensation to obtain certification may be granted if the individual has 5 years of experience in painting or coating inspection.

This course assumes all candidates hold ICorr Painting or Coating Inspector approval (any level) and therefore have a knowledge of inspection philosophy, surface preparation, anti-corrosion coatings and how to use common inspection instruments.
The course will cover the inspection of modern types of Passive Fire Protection as found on hydrocarbon installations for both on and offshore facilities. This will include structural members, decks and bulkheads and storage or process tanks and associated pipework. Mechanically fixed methods are not covered.

- Have a knowledge of inspection philosophy, surface preparation, anti-corrosion coatings and how to use common inspection instruments.
- Hold an ICorr Protective Coatings Inspector (or equivalent) certificate and ideally hold a minimum of 12 months’ coatings related experience.
- Submit their CV to ensure they have the required pre-requisite qualifications and experience.
- Seek advice if hold less than 12 months’ coatings experience as they may still undertake the course and become certified once relevant experience has been obtained.
